Topic: Cores as a business

How do core managers/directors simultaneously become business managers and maintain scientific skills? The idea of a business model for a core is flawed - they're not businesses. No profit, no investment, no additional revenue streams and a predefined, limited set of customers would make an impossible business environment even for The Donald. How does a core director, who usually is a person of science, become skilled enough in business to pull this off?

Re: Cores as a business

My desired solution: hire a business person, preferably from the nonprofit or NGO world.

In the meantime, I fake it.

I'd go with JamesAFoster. I fake it and it works most of the time. pokies
